Deputy Crystal Sujeski is currently a Supervising Deputy State Fire Marshal (Acting) with CAL FIRE - Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) in the Code Development and Analysis Division. She manages and leads the discussions with the OSFM Code Interpretation Committee. In developing regulation proposals, she has been actively involved in the initiation, preparation, and analysis of code change proposals at the international, national, and state levels since 2008. Crystal is very proud of the collaborative work she has done with International Code Council and the California Fire Chief’s Association Fire Prevention Officer’s (FPO), leading the effort in creating the California Amendments Handbook. She joined OSFM in February of 2014 with the Fire and Life Safety Division covering Contra Costa and Alameda counties in addition to plan review. She began her fire service career as a volunteer fire fighter with Central County Fire Department in Burlingame, California. In addition to that, she currently serves as the Northern California FPO code committee co-chair.
